Linda Johnson
Linda Aplas Johnson, age 56, passed away on February 14, 2006, in the care of her family after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. She was born on January 28, 1950, in New Brunswick, N.J. Linda attended Rutgers and Temple Universities and graduated from St. Peters Hospital School of Nursing in New Brunswick, N.J. as a Registered Nurse.

Linda was married to Fred B. Johnson, (LTC, USA Ret.) on February 17, 1985, at West Point, N.Y., after a “whirlwind” courtship of only three months. They met on a blind date arranged by one of her childhood friends who was married to a West Point classmate of Fred’s and it was love at first sight. Fred was a widower with two teenage sons (Rob and Pat) she adopted as her own. They soon had two more boys, Andy, followed by Jake.

Ten to 15 percent of the people who are diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked. Linda Johnson was a member of this minority.
